As a public company, the
Water Group attaches great importance to social commitment so they have been supporting projects in developing countries for years. In addition to Chile, Congo and Mali, The Water Group has also been active in Suriname since 2012 where they help support drinking and wastewater projects.

Water Production Center

In the Commewijne district of Suriname, De Watergroep is building a water production center with a capacity of 500 m³ per hour that will supply drinking water to 50,000 residents converted to drinking water.

Production is based on surface water from the Suriname River. The water is treated with a combination of ultrafiltration and activated carbon filters. Construction of the water production center was started in 2018 and continues in 2019.

In 2020, training will begin for employees of the Surinaamsche Waterleiding Maatschappij (SWM) to operate the plant.

The role of Fluxer

The UF plant was fitted with valves, valves and instrumentation by Fluxer. The following were used for this project: wafer type butterfly valves, powered or not by el-o-matic pneumatic actuators with switchbox, Siemens Sitrans electromagnetic flow meters, Siemens pressure transmitters and RD200 displays for correct readout.

Because in the past, they always struggled with fluctuating flow rate, Fluxer suggested using a Goetze pressure reducing valve in combination with a control valve. With this combination, you create a constant pre-pressure and consequently a cash flow.

The drinking water tapping point was also fitted with Fluxer double service taps. By accepting this assignment from The Water Group, Fluxer is broadening its activities and further expanding its know-how in commercial projects for domestic and foreign markets.
